5 Most Common Golf Cart Noises (And How to Fix Them)
Like any machine, you never want to hear your golf cart making a strange sound. Any sound that you do not recognize is a pretty good indicator that there is a problem. The best thing to do now is diagnose the sound and bring your golf cart in to be repaired. Just like your washing machine or pickup truck, letting a strange sound go on and on means you are letting further damage happen. Before you know it, your cart could be completely non-functional. With this in mind, here are a few of the most common golf cart noises and what we can do to fix the problem.
#1 Grinding Noise
Even if you don't know much about machines, you know a grinding noise is never a good sign. The issue could be due to the bearings or another mechanical part. Replacing the bearings may be the solution, and a trained repair technician will know for sure.
#2 Buzzing Noise
Do not worry! Chances are good that this is a minor issue and can be solved quickly. Usually, the buzzing noise comes when water gets into various parts of your cart. The best and easiest solution is to let the water dry out completely before using the cart again. However, you may also have some water left on the battery wires. This could be dangerous, so we suggest that you arrange a visit to a golf cart repair specialist.
#3 Beeping Noise
A beeping noise is your golf cart yelling "Help! I'm tired!" This beeping noise is because the battery is not fully charged, low battery voltage, or because the rear end fluid needs changing. A quick stop for regular and routine maintenance is all that is required. Sometimes, a damaged solenoid could be causing the issue of beeping noise and need to be replaced in order for the beeping to cease.
#4 Whining Noise
Your kids aren't the only ones who make a whining noise; your golf cart can too! The whining noise is most often happening because of damaged motor bearings or an indication of needing fluids, like oil. Most issues that cause a whining noise happen with important cart elements, so you should bring your golf cart into a repair shop for a technician to take a look and make the necessary repairs.
#5 Clicking Noise
A clicking noise suggests that your wheel drums may be touching the sides of the vehicle. You may also hear a click sound if your cart has lost any bolts that are wiggling in place as you ride around. Thankfully, these golf cart parts are simple to replace!
